Nancy Hemingway M.A. C.M.A., R.M.T® CGXS™, is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist®, Manual Therapist and Movement Educator with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association and a member of the Associated Massage and Bodywork Professionals. Nancy has twenty seven years teaching and clinical experience in academic, community and private settings in the US and Europe.

Nancys' education in osteopathic based manual therapies since 1998 includes advanced Craniosacral Therapy, Biovalant® Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, Neural Manipulation, Fascial and Membrane Technique, Viscerovascular, Global Joint and she completed a 700hr training in Biodynamic Cranialsacral Therapy*. Earlier studies included Muscle Energy, Myofascial Release, Strain/Counterstrain, Mechanical Link, Visceral, Cranialsacral, Biologic Analogues/Therapeutic Horizons, Integrative Manual Therapy™,and Energy Medicine. She is privledged to work wth the diverse patients seen in her clinical practice including injury, trauma, musculoskeletal, orthopedic, men and womens health, neurologic, pediatric, sport/dance medicine, bodymind integration and wellness.

Nancys training and practical experience in Somatic Movement Reeducation, corrective exercise, core conditioning and neurofascial are integrated into a comprehensive individualized and creative approach. A former professional dancer in NYC for twelve years, she received her B.A. from Oberlin College, is a Certified Movement Analyst through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York(1982), and graduated from NYU in 1983 with a M.A. in Dance & Movement Education, focusing on neuromuscular reeducation and somatic movement therapies. During the 1980s, she incorporated her work as a Registered Movement Therapist® into personal training at several state of the art fitness/rehabilitation facilities in NYC when movement practices were beginning to have influence on the feilds of fitness and physical therapy. She created somatic movement and movement arts workshops which she has taught in Europe('86-90'). She studied Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis®, from 1988-91 at the original White Cloud in NYC and is a Certified Instructor in the Gyrotonic® Expansion System.™ Early studies, in addition to graduate studies and Laban, also include Pilates with Kathy Grant('83), Body Mind Centering, Developmental Movement, Ideokinesis ('80-1), Kinetic Awareness, Alexander Techniques, Therapeutic Exercise, Dynamics of Movement and Alignment ('85-90 with Martha Yohida) and Iyengar Yoga (86-'96) through the Iyengar Center of Amsterdam and New York. Nancy enjoyed being on faculty of Princeton Dance and Theatre Studio 2004-7, participating in the year and summer intensive programs.
