What is the Gyrotonic® Expansion System™?

Gyrotonic® Pulley Tower Combination Unit and Gyrotonic Floor Unit®

Gyrotonic® is a unique system of exercises and equipment for improving overall fitness and health. Developed by Juliu Horvath, the system incorporates key movement principles from sports, yoga, martial arts and dance through which major muscle groups and joints are worked in an interdependent and integrated manner. Unique to Gyrotonic® are circular, spiraling and undulating movement, originating from the spine and performed through multiple planes of movement, increasing the functional capacity of the spine to create a spherical and three dimensional awareness, resulting in total equilibrium.

The movements, performed with uniform weight resistance provided by the machines weights cams and pulleys, simultaneously stretches and strenthens the muscles while articulating the spine and joints and stimulating their connective tissues. The movements themselves develop total body organization and an awareness of the body moving as an integrated whole always strengthening the body's core support while balancing the spine, trunk and pelvis and the extremities.

The GXS™ equipment offers complete freedom of movement designed around the human body. Fully adjustable, modifications regarding positioning and range of motion can be made for safe and effective application to meet all physical needs.
